Each year the Pro Bono Program at Berkeley Law presents the Kathi Pugh Award for Exceptional Mentorship to one or two outstanding supervising attorney(s) of their Student-Initiated Legal Services Projects (SLPS) in recognition of their outstanding efforts to encourage, mentor, and supervise law students engaged in pro bono work.  This year the award went to our very own Haley Fagan who directs the UC Berkeley Law Pro Bono Foster Education Project.  Haley trains and supervises law students matching them to EBCLO clients who need someone to hold their educational rights and advocate for them at school.  Haley says, “[a]t East Bay Children’s Law Offices we love the opportunity to work with Berkeley Law students, and so do our clients! Foster youth across the country have disproportionately low educational outcomes. Having a committed law student available for student teacher conferences, special education meetings and to advocate for things like extracurricular activities can and does change lives.”  Congratulations Haley!
