Preschool/Head Start

Preschool is SO important! This is more than just playtime for your child, but a crucial time for them to develop pre-academic and social-emotional skills, so that they can start Kindergarten ready to learn.

The California State Preschool Program is a full or part-day program, available to children 3-5 years old, which prepares them for Kindergarten. Contact your local school district for availability and registration.

Head Start is a federal program, available full or part-day to children 3-5 years old, with sites in nearly every city. Click here to view a website that allows you to search for sites near you.

If your child has mental health needs or challenging behaviors, they may be eligible for a therapeutic preschool setting. There are two therapeutic preschools available that may be able to provide support to manage their behavior:
